WHAT IS MMA?
Nigeria Mixed Martial Art Federation (NMMAF) was created on 11th March 2014
In January 2023, and under the administration of HM Sunday Dare, the federation was recognized and endorsed by the federal ministry of sports and youth development and is currently the official government organization empowered by the Federal Government of Nigeria to develop, regulate, promote the sport of MMA nationwide and ensure the safety of all Mixed Martial Arts activities in Nigeria as a thriving Sports in line with global best practices.
The Federation is also approved and recognized by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in Nigeria and the Nigeria Olympic Committee.
AFFILIATED TO INTERNATIONAL MIXED MARTIAL ARTS FEDERATION
NMMAF is a member to the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), the Global Governing body for the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.
VISION
NMMAF’s Vision is to develop, regulate and promote Mixed Martial Arts in Nigeria to a world-class standard by promoting athlete’s welfare, setting and monitoring the implementation of rules and regulations to protect athletes and to ensure fairness and high performance in all MMA related activities, ensuring adherence to global best practices, implementing the highest medical and safety standards, promoting safety of MMA, training officials and licensing Promoters and MMA training Clubs.
MISSION
To promote, regulate and develop Mixed Martial Arts in Nigeria to a world-class standard and create jobs in the ecosystem and pathways for the development of Nigerian youth and athletes in order to win national, continental and international medals
SOCIAL POSITIVE CHANGE
Our AIM is to use the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in Nigeria for positive social change, to establish opportunity, education, equality and good governance in Mixed Martial Arts, whilst providing individuals and youth guidance to develop mentally and physically through an enjoyable activity in a safe and well regulated environment.
The Federation will regularly provide opportunities that leads to National team selection from the 36 States of the Federation including FCT, leading to international competitions. This pathway is provided through the network and support of State Associations and training Clubs.
It allows our athletes the chance to showcase their skills whilst representing their respective states/clubs and our country on an international level.
